Mackinaw City Vacation

We'll we just got back and I gotta say it was a great time. We stayed at the Mackinaw Beach & Bay All Suites Resort. It was a very nice hotel and very affordable (video below) about 90 bucks a night compared to the 149 that I seen at most of the other hotels. The first day/night up there we went over to the UP. now for all you other dumb asses out there if you are like Amy & I who never carry cash make sure you have some when crossing the bridge...lol We forgot to get cash and the guy at the fare didn't want to let us cross because they don't take debit/credit cards at the tools. This is the 2010's people The guy asked us if we had a bridge card? Amy jokingly said "what like for the poor people" and he was like all serious "No I meant a Mackinaw Bridge card" The guy made us pull over and go into the office to pay with our debit card which instead of paying the normal fare turned into 6 bucks.

In the UP we went to the Mystery Spot. Pretty gay but cool all at the same time. We also hit up a joint called Clyde's Drive In. Not bad at all. Good food but a little on the pricey side.

We had plans back in Mackinaw city so after visiting a cemetery from the 1800's (my wife has an infatuation with cemetery's) We walked downtown to all the shops. Found ourselves going into the A Maze & Mirrors which was once again gay but fun.

Later that night we head out to Jack Pine's Lumberjack Show. This was very entertaining and a fun show put on.

We also headed back downtown as we both were interested in seeing the free laser light show at the Mackinaw Crossings. I will not go on any further. It was a complete waste of time. It was supposed to start at 10 and didn't start til 10:30 and then about 10 minutes into it we decided that it was for kindergarten kids and left.

The next day we bought a package for ferry ride to the Island, Carriage Ride & admission to Fort Mackinac.

This was awesome and the best part. It rained on us but the history alone that we learned on the Island was amazing. Fort Mackinac was very cool. I had always heard the story about how Dr. William Beaumont performed surgery on a man where the wound in his stomach didn't heal and formed a whole. He would then later use this hole to stick different types of food in the hole to see what our digestive system would do to it. The thing is, I never new that it happened at fort Mackinac.

We of course got fudge on the Island and after walking some of the shops there came back to the hotel.

It was a great time and we would love to go back and see more of the Island. Below is a video of out Hotel Room.
